Driving Directions
Windjammer Resort is located 30 miles North of Miami International Airport and 10 miles North of Fort Lauderdale International Airport. Shuttle buses and limousine services are always available at both airports.
From Fort Lauderdale International Airport...
HIGHWAY ROUTE
Exit out of airport and follow signs to I-595 West.
Head West and follow signs to I-95 North.
Merge unto I-95 North and take Exit 32 onto Commercial Boulevard East.
Head East until you see the Beach sand at El Mar Drive.
Turn right onto El Mar Drive to 4244 El Mar Drive. (1 block).
SCENIC BEACH ROUTE (our preferred route)
Follow exit out of airport and follow signs for N. Federal Highway/US1 North.
Stay on Federal Hwy/U.S.1 and follow signs to (“BEACHES) and turn right (East) onto 17th Street Causeway.
Stay on 17th Street Causeway which will turn into A-1-A after the draw bridge for about 10 miles and make a right on Datura Avenue (1 block South of Commercial Blvd).
We are at the end of Datura Avenue at 4244 El Mar Drive, Lauderdale By The Sea, Florida 33308.
RECOMMENDED SHUTTLE SERVICE
For our guests who would like a more personalized service to and from the airport, we recommend Mr. Martin Shook. He owns his own cabs, is licensed and insured has been transporting our owners and guests all over South Florida for over 10 years. If you call him ahead of time he will gladly pick you up at the airport and bring you directly to the Windjammer. We have found him and his drivers to be reliable and prompt and are confident in recommending his services to our guests. He offers our guests a special rate for Airport runs and other destinations all over Broward.

Windjammer Resort is perfectly situated in the seaside village of charming Lauderdale-By-The-Sea with its world-famous fishing pier just steps from the hotel. On the lovely tree-lined streets here you will find elegant boutiques, gourmet restaurants, snack bars, convenience stores, a large supermarket and souvenir shops. All this is within easy walking distance of Windjammer Resort. Of special note is the fact that our reef is rated one of the top 3 snorkel & dive sites in Florida!
When visiting the area, be sure to stop by the Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center conveniently located along A1A just south of Commercial Blvd. You'll find the friendly Chamber staff is there to assist you with directions and everything you need to enjoy a perfect holiday by the sea.

Pelican Hopper - Free Public Transportation
The town's air-conditioned Pelican Hopper is a great way to get around. The shuttle starts at Publix Supermarket and heads south on Bougainvilla Drive to the Galt Ocean Mile in Fort Lauderdale (where you can connect to Broward County Transit buses) before heading north to Terra Mar Island (at the town’s northern boundary); the shuttle then returns to Publix to start another complete route.
The shuttle has specific stops, but the driver will pick you up or drop you off almost anywhere you need along the route. Hop on!
